Description
Welcome to the Seboeis Riverside Trail. Located on the outskirts of Mount Chase, Maine, this 7.2-mile trail travels directly along the Seboeis River and intersects with Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument. In the winter, it is traveled by snowshoe, and in the summer, it is traveled by walking and hiking. Well-behaved dogs are permitted on-leash. Please clean up after your pet.
The Seboeis Riverside Trail begins at the Grand Pitch Trailhead and ends at the Philpott Bridge Trailhead. At Grand Pitch, it has one warming hut and a campsite that is first-come-first-served. Our large Visitor Parking Lot is across the road from the Grand Pitch Trailhead sign.
Across from our Trailhead is a small campground with three tent sites, two shared fire pits, a screened tent pavilion (for summer use only), and a vault toilet. It's the perfect setting to begin a Seboeis River paddle trip!
The Seboeis River Trail Snowshoe Lodge is located 2 miles from the Grand Pitch Trailhead and is equipped with a wood-burning stove, a table with chairs, and four cots. At the trailhead, there is a Snowshoe Lodge Guestbook to help others know when the Lodge is open and available for overnight stays. Find yourself in one of the most beautiful places in Northern Maine – sit down, rest, and then continue your journey through the trail system. Respectfully, please keep overnight stays to a maximum of one night.
The first-come, first-served campsite along the trail is about 1 mile from the Grand Pitch portage. The campsite includes a picnic table and a bench.
