Medway Recreation Area

The Medway Recreation Area is located on Recreation Area Road just West of the East Branch of the Penobscot River on Rt. 11/157/Medway Rd. It is free for all to use.

Take Trestle Road, just West of Recreation Area Road, for Parking for the playground, tennis court, and ball field. Recreation Area Road will bring you to parking for the boat ramp, picnic area, beach volleyball court, bocce ball court, beach, and walking/biking trail.

As you turn onto Recreation Area Road there is a visitor's information booth on the left and Veteran's Memorial Park on your right before you head down the hill to the recreation area. On Mondays in the summer there is a farmer's market at the entrance on Recreation Area Road.

Pets are welcome on leash. Please be sure to clean-up behind them.

Across the street is Grandbelly's Country Cafe. You can eat in or take-out. They are open 6 days a week, morning to evening, in the summer.

The walking/biking and snowmobile trail is located at the back of the Recreation Area and runs North along the river. This trail is the ITS 110 connector snowmobile trail in the winter and a walking and biking trail in the summer. Motor sports are not allowed in the summer. The trail heads up a small hill out of the recreation area and is flat woods road for 1/5th of a mile before you reach a scenic outlook. At that point the trail bends left and continues to tracks along the ITS 110 connector. Excellent for a short walk while the family recreates.

The trailered boat ramp has plenty of parking and is less than .5 miles North of the confluence of the East and West Branches of the Penobscot River.

Located on both the Recreation Area Road for waterfront and picnicking, and Trestle Road for the playground and ball field area, just West of the bridge crossing the East Branch of the Penobscot River on Rt.11/157, a.k.a Medway Rd, Medway Maine.
