Description

Welcome to the Lumbermen’s Trail and Storybook Lane! This year-round one-third-mile in-town trail is non-motorized and features an easy to walk wooded trail and children's storybook lane on land just behind the Patten Lumbermen’s Museum in Patten, Maine. It is designed to be an accessible, fun and engaging experience for children and adults of all abilities. The trail starts with ever changing "book stations" and then moves onto an easy to walk wooded trail that features fun and informative stops along the way.

While Storybook Lane is primarily intended to entertain children, it also serves as an educational tool, encouraging a love of reading and storytelling. The trail features storyboards and signs that provide snippets of classic and local tales, making it both fun and informative.

Patten Lumbermen's Museum, the Patten Veteran's Memorial Library, and the trail offer a unique combination of cultural history and playful exploration. Families can learn about the area's logging history on the Lumbermen's Trail and then shift to a more whimsical experience on the Storybook Lane!

Patten Area Outdoors is a local group that organizes trail programs for residents and visitors, as well as volunteer days to maintain and enhance the trail.
