Description

The sland Falls historic jail house is over a century-old structure, built as a replacement to the Island Falls Town Office/Post Office which burned in February 1910. The jail is owned and operated by the Island Falls Historical Society, and is built of sandstone, a scarce material which adds to the building’s uniqueness. The Jail House was the third building in the town to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
