Description
Welcome to Birch’s Campground & Beer Garden! Opened in 2026, Birch’s Campground & Beer Garden offers a comfortable and inviting base camp for exploring Millinocket, Baxter State Park, and Maine’s North Woods. Designed for adventurers, families, and travelers who simply want to unwind beneath the trees, Birch’s combines classic Maine camping with welcoming accommodations and an on-site beer garden.
Guests can choose from 12 campsites, nine rustic huts, and six cabins and yurts. The tent sites provide peaceful places to pitch a tent and gather around a nightly campfire. Rustic huts offer a comfortable bed and shelter from the elements, while the classic Maine cabins feature electricity, private bathrooms, and comfortable beds. The spacious yurts also include electricity and private bathrooms, providing a memorable alternative for visitors who want to stay close to nature without giving up essential comforts.
The wooded property is located near the West Branch of the Penobscot River, where clear water, forest scenery and outdoor recreation are never far away. After dark, guests can relax beside a campfire and enjoy the region’s remarkably starry skies—and may even catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights.
Relax at the Beer Garden: After a day on the trail or on the water, the on-site Beer Garden offers an easygoing place to gather. Beer, wine, bar snacks & desserts are served in comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces surrounded by gardens. Games, casual seating, and a relaxed North Woods atmosphere make it an inviting destination for campers, local residents, and other visitors.
The Beer Garden is generally open Friday through Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. Hours may change during the season, so visitors should confirm the current schedule before arriving.
A Convenient Base for Katahdin Adventures: Birch’s enjoys a quiet setting just outside Millinocket, with convenient access from Interstate 95 and an attractive approach through forests and ponds. The campground is located just off the Katahdin Woods & Waters National Scenic Byway.
It is approximately 25 minutes from Baxter State Park’s South Gate and about 30 minutes from the Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument Contact Station. Its central location makes Birch’s a convenient base for hiking, mountain biking, swimming, fishing, paddling, wildlife watching, and exploring the communities and attractions of the Katahdin Region.
Spend the day climbing a mountain, riding forest trails, or enjoying the Penobscot River. Then return to a comfortable bed, a glowing campfire, and a cold drink at the Beer Garden.
Pet-Friendly Camping: Pets are welcome at Birch’s Campground & Beer Garden, allowing four-legged family members to join the North Woods adventure. Visiting pets may even have the chance to meet Moxie, Birch’s resident four-legged friend. Guests should review the campground’s current pet policies when making reservations.
Plan Your Stay: Birch’s Campground is open seasonally from Memorial Day through October, with the campground operating daily during the season.
