Appalachian Trail Hostel & Outfitters

The Appalachian Trail Hostel & Outfitters is located at 33 Penobscot Avenue in Millinocket, Maine and is the northernmost dedicated hiker service along the Appalachian Trail. They service the 115 mile stretch of trail from Monson to the northern terminus on Katahdin, as well as the entire Maine IAT. They specialize in thru-hikers and section hikers taking on the 100 Mile Wilderness, Baxter State Park, Katahdin, and the Maine IAT. They offer a variety of services including lodging, shuttles, a fully stocked outfitters, shakedowns & workshops, food drops in the 100-Mile Wilderness, slack-packing, trip/hike planning, and trail information. Let them assist you with your epic hike in the beautiful Katahdin region.

Lodging includes hostel style bunks, private rooms with shared space, a family/group suite, and the Hiker Yearbook Bus!

2025 Slack-packing Trips and guided trips are now available through their trip division, Katahdin Adventure Co.

Thru-hiking 101, is their week-long, hands-on course for aspiring thru-hikers. This course is intended to either be the start of your 2025 thru-hike attempt or taken the year prior to your 2026 thru-hike attempt. This course is led by thru-hiker and Registered Maine Guide, Koty aka Trash Panda.

Operating out of Millinocket, Maine near Baxter State Park, they are the closest dedicated hiker service to Katahdin and the northern-half of the 100-Mile Wilderness. They provide service to AT thru-hikers, section hikers, day hikers, slack-packers, and visitors sight-seeing in the Katahdin region.

Koty Sapp “Trash Panda” & Danya Saadawi “Loins of Arabia”
In 2017, Koty & Danya separately set out to hike all 2190 miles of the Appalachian Trail. On one chilly April evening, near mile 110.3, they crossed paths for the first time. Little did they know, they would spend the next nine months hiking together and a lifetime walking beside each other.

Koty & Danya have both backpacked over 6200 miles. Utilizing their experience and knowledge of life on trail, they have tailored AT Hostel & Outfitters to be the best resource possible for AT Hikers.
